Empowering Ghana’s Future: Advancing Skills Development through WorldSkills Partnership
As part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WorldSkills Ghana and WorldSkills Germany, a delegation from Ghana is currently undergoing advanced skills training in Germany. Coordinated by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) through WorldSkills Ghana, this initiative is facilitated by WorldSkills Germany and supported by GIZ. It forms a critical part of Ghana’s vision to reset the nation through skills development, ensuring that TVET remains a key driver of economic transformation and sustainable growth.
By aligning TVET education with global industry standards, this program enhances Ghana’s efforts to build a highly skilled, future-ready workforce capable of driving industrialization, job creation, and sustainable development.
The training, organized in three groups that traveled at different times, focuses on specialized technical and vocational education and training skill areas, with the most recent group departing Ghana on 24th March, 2025, for a one-week intensive session. The skill areas covered include:
• Autobody Repair
• Welding
• Electrical Installations
• Bricklaying
• Carpentry
• Mechatronics
• IT Software Solutions for Business
Under the guidance of technical experts from WorldSkills Germany, participants are receiving hands-on training and exposure to global best practices in technical and vocational education and training (TVET). This initiative not only enhances the technical competencies of Ghana’s emerging workforce but also reinforces the country’s presence in the global skills ecosystem, enhancing its competitiveness internationally.
Through this collaboration, Ghana is resetting its future by leveraging TVET as a tool for sustainable development, economic growth, and job creation.
Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting journey toward a more skilled, resilient, and sustainable Ghana.
