CTVET Hosts Development Partners Meeting to Strengthen Collaboration on TVET Policy and Investment Framework
On 17th June 2025, Mr. Zakaria Sulemana, the Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) convened a high-level meeting with development partners to review the draft National TVET Policy and seek critical input to strengthen Ghana’s skills development agenda.
The discussions focused on transforming Ghana’s TVET ecosystem through a shared theory of change. This vision outlines a future where:
1. Training institutions operate efficiently and deliver high-quality, relevant programmes;
2. Real-time data on industry skills demands is readily available to guide decision-making across both public and private sectors;
3. The gap between what training providers offer and what industry needs is significantly reduced;
4. TVET personnel are equipped and motivated to perform with professionalism and excellence.
This transformation is expected to lead to a more responsive, demand-driven TVET system that contributes meaningfully to national development by producing a skilled, employable workforce.
Development partners were encouraged to align with CTVET’s policies and guidelines and to collaborate more closely with the Commission in project design and implementation, ensuring coherence, sustainability, and impact across the sector.
A key outcome of the meeting was a proposal by CTVET to hold an Accountability Retreat between CTVET and its development partners. This upcoming event will provide a platform to assess the outcomes of donor-funded TVET interventions since 2015, share success stories, identify existing gaps, and explore new avenues for collaboration. During the retreat, CTVET will present its proposed TVET Investment Framework (2025–2035), aimed at guiding long-term strategic investments in the sector. The event will also serve to deepen stakeholder engagement and secure strong commitments toward a coordinated, future-focused TVET agenda.
CTVET remains dedicated to building a unified, responsive, and resilient TVET system through strategic partnerships, effective policy alignment, and shared accountability.
